NYCNVC Intensives offer a rare opportunity to achieve deep levels of integration that are extremely difficult to achieve in our daily lives. We are offering four Intensives, designed to support learning and growth from the beginning to the deepest levels.
Events and schedules are designed to provide a rigorous and uplifting experience. All Intensives are designed and led by Thom Bond, who is the Founder and Director of NYCNVC and a Certified Trainer with CNVC, in partnership with advanced Associated NYCNVC trainers from around the region.
Each Retreat focuses on the refinement of NVC Skills and Consciousness from a different point of view. Each retreat focuses on a new area of development, providing a comprehensive and challenging journey with guidance and support for your pursuit of NVC practice and awareness.

This non-residential training is for anyone who has some familiarity with NVC and wants a comprehensive Introductory training on a professional level. Many people learn NVC in Practice Groups or 1 to 3 hour classes. Although this is a very viable way to learn NVC, it does not provide the movement and intensity many beginners enjoy. Additionally, many people who are learning NVC want to work with a Certified Trainer to be sure they are getting a clear understanding of what NVC is and what it is not.
The NVC Discovery Intensive takes us from the very beginning to a deeper understanding of the meaning and implications NVC has in our lives and for al of Us at large. We will practice to responding and communicating consciously by expressing and hearing, based on what we are observing, feeling, needing, and requesting.
Through the introduction of
concepts in combination with experiential exercises, demonstrations role plays
and more, participants will learn about the background, philosophy
and concepts of NVC and have a first hand experience of practicing it.
Possible Outcomes:
-Spend More Time Loving Your Loved Ones
-Have Less Painful and Shorter Conflicts.
-Spend Less Time in Pain and More Time Getting What You Want
-Have Your Needs Matter
-Be Understood
-Translate "Bad Behavior" into Deeper Understanding
-Become "Trigger Resistant"
Topics include:
-Observation and Evaluation
-Feelings and Thoughts
-Needs and Strategies
-Requests and Demands

"Breaking
Your Heart"
NVC
Empathy Intensive
Next Intensive in 2009 TBA
with
Thom Bond
Founder and Director of NYCNVC
Certified Trainer, CNVC
“It
is only through letting our heart break that we discover something unexpected:
The heart cannot actually break, it can only break open…To live with a
broken-open heart is to experience life full strength…When the heart breaks
open, it marks the beginning of a real love affair with this world. It is a
broken-hearted love affair, rather than the conventional kind based on hope and
expectation. Only in this fearless love can [we] respond to life’s pain as
well as its beauty. -John Welwood. From his book Love and Awakening
From
Thom:
"Many
of the people I've worked with over the past 7 years (myself included) get to a
point where we know what NVC is... we have read Marshall Rosenberg's book(s),
participated in a practice group, gone to workshops yet still struggle to
"integrate" empathy into moment by moment experience or at a depth
that we know is possible yet can't seem to get to.
This intensive is intended to support motivated NVC learners in breaking through and having a deeper and more sustainable integration of empathy in our lives. In a small community environment (30- 40 people including 4-6 Trainer/facilitators) we experience challenge, guidance and support in all the "pieces" that go into the empathy process.
Being present, being aware of and maintaining our focus and connecting with our intention are some of the skills we will work on throughout the Intensive. We will deepen our experience of Feelings and enrich our relationship to the energy of Needs (our own and others). It is by this practice that we can allow the empathic flow to deepen and increase.
As
an NVC Trainer, I am committed to supporting myself and those around me to share
in a level of connection that can transcend
conflict and habitual ways of being and to enrich and empower ourselves, our
relationships and our organizations.
If you are interested or have
questions, please call me at 212 496 3111.
With Love, Thom

From Thom
Many people experience a correlation
between self-empathy and how well we are able to stay in "NVC
Consciousness." For many of us, the ability to Self-Empathize
represents a key to integrating NVC into our lives and significant
relationships. We learn that our ability to self empathize becomes a
requisite skill for Living NVC Consciousness. Deep Empathy, Dialogue, Mediation, Being an NVC Trainer, and
perhaps most importantly, knowing what we want to do versus what we think we should
do, all are supported by our skills in Self-Empathy.
This workshop is an opportunity to understand and practice Self-Empathy at a new level and identify practices you can use for the rest of your Life, as an NVC practitioner and as a Human.

Founder and Director of NYCNVC
Certified Trainer, CNVC"I have two questions for you. What would you like Others to do? And why would you want them to be doing it?"
New York, 2002, Marshall Rosenberg, Originator of Nonviolent Communication
From Thom
If your answer to the second question is
"Because they want to," you're in "NVC Consciousness." By using
NVC Requests, we can interact with Others while staying connected to our
Values.
When we have learned to hear
others empathically and express ourselves honestly, requests are how we connect
to the life in others and help others understand the aliveness in us. They
are the practical tools we can use to deepen understanding and heart connection,
transcend conflict and exercise the power of
the Human Imagination.
Requests are where we can use all of our skills and awareness and in many ways represents
the most spiritually challenging part of NVC practice. With practice, NVC
Requests
help us discover our own attachments and suffering and give us the opportunity
to transform how we function in the world and in our relationships. The
workshop is designed to help us move from habitual ways of interacting (demand,
should/shouldn't thinking) to a potentially enriching and empowering perspective
and experience that acknowledges and connects us to our Needs and those of
Others. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to know more or
have other questions or things to say.
With Love, Thom
Topics will include:
- NVC Requests versus Demands
- Connection Requests
