NYCNVC Practice Groups and Empathy Groups

Practice Groups

Are gatherings to help us integrate our learning into real life. NVC skills are often readily understood, yet they can be challenging to use when we need them the most. By using practice exercises, role plays and sharing our struggles and successes with one another, Practice Groups provide the content and support to help us develop and use the skills to practice Nonviolent Communication in our daily lives.

NYCNVC offers Facilitated Practice Groups in the NYC area.  Beginning and intermediate groups generally follow either the Lucy Leu Companion Workbook or the 64 Days curriculum that includes readings, exercises and role plays.  Advanced groups are self-directed. Sessions take place in someone's home or a small public meeting room.  They range in size from 5 to 20 people, and cost from $20 to $25 per night.
Starting times are usually 6:30 to 7:00 with 2 1/2 hours for the meeting.

Quality Facilitation

All NYCNVC facilitators have experience in NVC practice groups.  Group Leaders are either Certified Trainers with The Center for Nonviolent Communication or are being coached and supported by a Certified Trainer throughout the course of the group.

Advanced Practice

There are groups for those who are looking for beginning, intermediate and advanced integration for personal and professional growth, including training to be an NVC facilitator or trainer.  In these groups we work with empathy, self-empathy, speaking and living from an awareness of feelings and needs  requests, connection requests, working with tense situations, deep empathy practice, mediation and dialogue, enriching our relationship to needs, feelings and the mind, sharing NVC with others and using NVC as a spiritual practice
