A Comprehensive Introduction to Nonviolent Communication and Needs-awareness

The Discovery Weekend is an opportunity for anyone who has some familiarity with NVC and wants a comprehensive introductory training on a professional level. The weekend takes us from the very beginning concepts to a deeper understanding of the purpose, meaning and implications NVC has in our lives and in the world. We will practice responding and communicating consciously based on our awareness and connection to needs.

Participants are offered a deeper understanding and experience of this new generation of communication skills. During the training we will establish a clear idea of what NVC is and what it is not. Through exercises, demonstrations, role-plays and more, participants will have first-hand experience practicing skills to bring into their daily lives.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Completing this training fulfills the pre-requisites to attend the Empathy Intensive Training, Monthly Alumni Teleworkshops, Empathy Cafes and Empathy Circles.

What People Say

"NVC has been a great gift to me. It has changed my life radically, I'm still amazed. Relationships that were stuck in old patterns have become fluid, caring and loving. Perhaps, at sixty-six, to find a new love with my husband, a warmth and closeness with my children, it all seems like a miracle."
--Anne N.

"An amazingly clear, informative, succinct, on-time, and interesting presentation."
--Workshop Participant

”Antonio and Clara were superb. The sessions were well paced and the interactive exercises were well constructed and valuable.”
--Tim

"Thom is a Jedi Master of this work, but it's his down-to-earth teaching style and humor that I found most endearing. He knows his stuff. He's also real, humble and funny. He's like the Jimmy Stewart or Gary Cooper "Everyman" of personal growth! I really connected to that."
--Mitch T.

“Clara is an invaluable resource. She is clear, concise and on point with everything I've brought to her. I know that I just need to commit more to creating the changes she is describing and practicing at a deeper level. I cannot wait to work with Clara again!”
--Workshop Participant

"Thom once explained to us that 'to make big changes in our lives we need big clarity'. Nonviolent Communication gets me clear on what it is that I want, and why. What it is that I believe, and why. With such clarity I now act with more assurance, and have more definition, purpose, and love in my life."
--Amy W.

“Fabulous workshop. Well planned, well articulated. As a teacher, I appreciated your commitment to pace yourselves and the group regarding the time. Thank you Clara and Antonio.”

--Rikki

”This training exceeded my expectations. Miss Clara took us to the growing edge of awareness and maintained a high level of professionalism in addition to being a caring and kind person.”
--Workshop Participant

"The immersion of Thom Bond's NVC Discovery Weekend has helped me make a HUGE shift in the way I'm communicating, listening/responding to others, and shifting the ways I think about my own feelings. I've had some big breakthroughs with my partner using some of the language I've learned; and have been able to see some intense feelings around my family as signals of needs I can address in my own life. And this is just the beginning..."
--Deb C.

"Thom's style as teacher is one that is filled with personal stories and examples that are meaningful and thoughtful. He does not place himself above anyone else."
--Elizabeth C.

"Working with Thom has changed my life. Really."
