The Challenge We're Facing

As our organization morphs and grows to welcome more participants, add programs, trainers and staff, we're facing a level of challenge that we have never experienced before.

At this point, we're experiencing expanding global engagement on a "not expanding" budget. We are currently working on 6 continents, in 132 countries, in 11 languages. It's a lot of work. (CLICK HERE to see a map of all the places in the world where we work.)

In order to continue our programs and projects in South and Central America, India, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, our financial models must shift, to account for the overwhelming economic and social challenges in many of these regions.

To keep up with the increasing demand for our services, we are simultaneously transitioning to an inclusive, expanded, leadership model, all while working with a continuously growing, widespread management network. To put it in perspective, there is no time of day when someone isn't engaged in our work, somewhere.

In these challenging circumstances serving a community the size of a city, our small core staff has undergone quite some stress - adapting, working many a late night and wearing numerous hats (from trainer, to coordinator, to bookkeeper and more...). It has stretched us - often without assistance or remuneration.

Walking Our Talk

Like never before, as an organization, we are seeing our NVC practice come to life. We've been triggered, at times disconnected, at times in pain, and yet, through the very skills that we love and teach, we have been able to find our way back to each other, time after time, continuing as the dedicated team we've been for years. It's been humbling, challenging and moving. It also very much reignited the passion for our work and its effectiveness in helping people get through tough times.

We continually strive to keep the quality and integrity in our work and conduct ourselves in a way that acknowledges that everyone's needs matter. All of our offerings are as accessible as possible. For example, the Compassion Course Online (a comprehensive one-year course) has, since its inception, been offered to anyone - regardless of their ability to pay.

In the last five years alone, we have extended over $325,000 in scholarships (that's not a typo), which came almost exclusively out of our own resources. We are reaching people in great need, in regions that would otherwise go without access to the skills of human connection and peacemaking that we share - places where our work is vital.

Walk With Us?

We are blessed to have a worldwide community of over 38,000 members - which includes you! Since our start in 2002, we have been 99% internally funded - we have always taken what could have been profit, and redistributed those resources to serve those in need. As we move into new regions with fewer resources, that model has reached it's limit.

We now realize that for our organization to keep serving and growing, especially where we are needed the most, we need your support.

Even a small contribution could go a LONG way for us. If each member gave just ten dollars (on average), it would completely support the trajectory of our organization and our staff for the coming year. Fifty dollars turns us into a global peacemaking powerhouse.

We hope that you consider making a donation so that we may continue to share the work of NVC with as many people as possible and be able to live sustainable and happy lives - the same kind of lives we wish for you and the rest of us beautiful humans.

With Love, Hope and Gratitude,

The NYCNVC and Compassion Course Core Staff
